From Baghdad to The Bay is a documentary that follows the journey of an Iraqi refugee and former translator for the US military. Wrongfully accused of being a double agent, tortured by the U.S. and ostracized from his family and country, Ghazwan Alsharif struggles to rebuild his life in the United States while coming out as an openly gay man.

ABOUT THE SEBASTOPOL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL

Designed for independent documentary filmmakers–the voices of our culture–SDFF enters its 11th year. It is the year of Destination: DOCS where films and their directors will converge on this small town in Northern California to share their stories.

We present these films to engage our community and stimulate critical thinking. DOCS have the power to catapult adventurous spirits on explorations to the edge of the world and into deepest chasms of the heart.
