From Baghdad to The Bay is a documentary that follows the journey of an Iraqi refugee and former translator for the US military. Wrongfully accused of being a double agent, tortured by the U.S. and ostracized from his family and country, Ghazwan Alsharif struggles to rebuild his life in the United States while coming out as an openly gay man.

DOC EDGE PRIDE: Screening #1

  • Auckland Art Gallery Wellesley Street East Auckland, Auckland, 1010 New Zealand (map)

Our international premiere!

Doc Edge is delighted to announce this year’s Doc Edge Pride Festival, a selection of LGBTQ+ film screenings at the Auckland Art Gallery from 15-17 February 2019.

From the hedonistic trip of Studio 54 to the equal rights movement for trans equality in the military, this selection of films provides insights into queer culture that are an essential addition to the celebration of the 2019 Auckland Pride Festival.

Continuing our commitment to the transformative power of documentaries, we have curated a programme of ten exceptional films that will have audiences laughing, crying and finding meaning in the trials and tribulations of queer life in both a historic and contemporary context.
